Learn to Slow Down

This is a very fast world that we live in, and it seems like every day it’s getting faster and faster. This ranges from brand new technology, getting from place to place in a more efficient/quicker way, or accomplishing tasks at the speed of light.
Performing at a high rate and pushing our bodies to the max can create a lot of negativity and strain, with unwanted outcomes like
- Mistakes in work
- Lack of communication with family and friends
- Stress and anxiety
- Burnout
That’s why we need to SLOW DOWN from time to time.
In this “go, go, go” world, it’s important to relax, take in the surroundings and be present in the moment. It can be very helpful to recenter yourself and get back to things that bring you joy and provide comfort.
Here are some ways to achieve that:
- Keep long-term goals within your scope. Don’t always prioritize short-term goals, make sure to view the whole picture.
- Make time for yourself. Set aside some time to do some reflection and some self-enjoyment.
- Concise decision making. Allow time to arrive at your decisions.
- Know your priorities. Everyone has them, but when’s the last time you’ve written them down?
- Expect the unexpected. Control what you can control and monitor/prepare for the uncontrollable.
The answer seems contradictory, but sometimes to efficiently speed up, we must slow down! So, use some of the tactics listed above and take some time to slow yourself down and enjoy what is around you.
