Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

A flexible spending account (FSA) is a tax-favorable benefit option for employer groups that gives employees the option to set aside funds for unreimbursed medical expenses and dependent care expenses.

Employees with an FSA will also be able to:

  • Save on FICA taxes
  • Access their account information and claim payments via our website, mobile app and toll-free number
  • Submit claims online or through our mobile app

We utilize a prepaid Visa® card. Members can use their prepaid Visa® card to easily access the money set aside for certain medical and dependent care expenses.

Flexible Spending Account App - MyFlexPlan Mobile

Our free MyFlexPlan mobile app provides your employees with a convenient and secure portal to access their flexible spending account information. MyFlexPlan can be downloaded for Android (GooglePlay) and Apple (iTunes) products by searching Avera Health Plans MyFlexPlan.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

A health savings account (HSA) combined with a high-deductible health plan, allows our members to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses. Because the money is taken out pre-tax, you can reduce FICA and federal unemployment tax liability.

In addition, the plans have lower premiums. You help your employees by increasing their flexibility when it comes to health care expenses; giving them a savings option that grows tax-free from year to year to cover eligible health expenses.

Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)

A health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) is an option for members to fund out-of-pocket costs. When paired with a high-deductible health plan, a health reimbursement arrangement reduces the cost of premiums and provides the member choices in their health care planning.

Money remaining in an HRA is carried over from year to year and is not lost when not used each calendar year.
